The installation features a larger-than-life leather body builder torso, mounted on computer controlled pneumatic lifts, somewhat like a mechanical bull.
Equipped with stirrups and a conveniently located “panic” switch, Viewers will be allowed and encouraged to ride the sculpture at their own risk. Pheromones are provided by doe musk heated by a custom glade plugin. Dark Pastoral is also the title of the collection of stories written by Ms. Hutchins, who will be reading from it at 8:30. She may give the reading while riding the sculpture. We’re unsure but hopeful.
Printed in a limited edition of 500, signed and numbered copies will be available at the opening. Dark Pastoral is the first title published by Machine Project Press.
