Graphic Design for N00bs

Dear friends,

We’ve once again convinced internet superstar Ben Benjamin to teach an introduction to graphic design class. This class was a big hit last year, and we’re delighted to be able to offer it again. Space is limited, so sign up early to avoid a future of aesthetic disasters!

January 14th and 21st, Sunday. 12pm to 3pm

Introduction to design for multiple media — mainly Web and print

If you’re not a designer but are sometimes called upon to design things, this class is for you. We’ll walk through a typical design process and along the way we’ll learn some basic tips and tricks, design strategies, and some broad design principles. The goal is not so much that you will become a good designer in two 3-hour sessions, but more that you will learn how to avoid some of bad design’s biggest traps.

Additionally, you’re encouraged to bring in one design disaster (preferably of your own making) which we’ll look at as a class and see what can be doneto help.

Topics covered:
– Design process
– Design “rules”
– Tools of design
– Basic Principles
– Basic Typography
