Q: What is LOLCODE?

A: LOLCODE is a computer programming syntax based on the LOLCATS meme and created by Adam Lindsay. For this class we will be using Steve Losh’s interpreter based on Lex/Yacc-style Python libraries.

Q: Why teach programming using LOLCODE?

A: We’re getting ready to teach a serious workshop in Processing and we thought this would be an amusing if useless warm up

A: As Ryan put it – “it’s like adding an extra layer of obfuscation over an already complex topic!”

A: Kittens!

—————————–

Q: How much does this workshop cost?
A: We cannot in good conscience charge money for this. However, our stock of beer is running low, so we are demanding a tribute of at least a 12 pack from all participants. Cans only, no glass please.

Q: What will this class cover?
A: An introduction to Python, working with the command line, basic programming operations (variables, loops, decisions) and LOLCODE syntax.

—————————–

Q: Who is this class for?
A: Anyone who would like to know more about how programming works and is not expecting to gain any practical knowledge. And who will bring us beer.

—————————–

Q: Is this a joke?
A: Was Erasmus Darwin the musical, dorkbake, our moonshine operation or burying people alive a joke? We never joke.

Q: What if my question is not answered by this FAQ?
A: Please email m@machineproject dot com or call 213 483 8761
