TABLACENTRIC: Daal 101 Cooking Workshop

Come to Machine to cook a traditional Gujarati (western India) meal with cooking master, Saroj Sukhadia. This workshop is totally hands on, giving participants step by step insight into making daal (a nourishing lentil based soup), a potato dish, cinnamon basmati rice, and cilantro chutney.

Up to 12 participants will share 6 cooking workstations where they will work alongside Saroj to prepare a delicious lunchtime vegetarian meal. $65 includes all ingredients, recipes, and of course a full lunch. Cooking will begin at 11:00am and lunch will be served at 1:00pm. Registration required.

Saroj Sukhadia, daughter of the famous Girbirdas Bapuji Sukhadia, comes from a family known for their exquisite confections and sweets. Born in Nadiad, Gujarat, Saroj grew up watching her father build a sweet shop in the heart of their town, that now is famous all throughout India. She possesses an immense storehouse of culinary knowledge, and is open to sharing and giving all of her children and students guidance in being the best Indian cooks they can be.
