EVENT : “Giant Leaps for Mankind” and the Future of the Past

Thursday, August 9th at 8pm

Justin St. P. Walsh will give a talk on his work with archaeological explorations in outer space. In recent years, scholars such as Walsh have begun developing studies for preserving sites and objects across the universe.

Join us for a discussion on recent developments in the space industry and future plans for archaeology beyond our planet.

 

EVENT: The Inaugural Sober & Lonely Synchronized Running Club Run

Sunday, August 12th at 6:13am

Machine Project and the Sober and Lonely Institute for Contemporary Art cordially invite you to join us for The Inaugural Sober & Lonely Synchronized Running Club Run on Sunday August 12th, at 6:13 am starting from Machine Project in Los Angeles. The route is a short but hilly 3.45 miles loop along Marathon Street in Echo Park/Silver Lake.

This event is free and open to the public. If you would like to participate in the run, please email lauren@soberandlonely.org with the subject line [This hill is actually more steep than I thought it was]. We are also looking for volunteers to help from 5.00 AM – 7.00 AM on the day of the event. If you are interested in helping, please email lauren@soberandlonely.org with the subject line [I like waking up early and handing out oranges].

EVENT: Perfumed Nightmare

Sunday, August 12th at 8pm

We invite you to join us for another episode of the Machine Interns screen films they like series featuring a free screening of Perfumed Nightmare (1978), a film by Kidlat Tahimik which documents a young Filipino’s experience with the presence of American colonialism in the Philippines and abroad.
