Have you always wanted to send a message to city government in the form of a poorly autotuned 90 second jingle?? Now is your chance!

Come to Machine Project anytime from 1-4pm this Sunday, August 3rd, with a half-baked message to city government that you’d like to have turned into a professional political sound-bite.

Resident political consultant Clay Russell, robotic jingle specialist Fol Chen, and a selection of guest vocal specialists will help craft your statements into highly effective musical propaganda. No singing ability required or recommended.

This is a trial run for future implementation at city hall. Come help us see if it works! This event is free but please RSVP via email to machine@machineproject.com with [listen to me please] in the subject line.

Instructors: Fol Chen is a band from Los Angeles that plays experimental electronic music, signed to Asthmatic Kitty Records.

Clay Russell is a political consultant from Texas, residing in Los Angeles. Clay spent seven years as special assistant to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and is now the executive director of Minimum1010.org.

Recordings:

Machine Jingle
Welcome all to autotune city hall
Government messages, the people’s call
During lunch break in Grand Park
Machine Project will help you start
So come on down,
Come on down
We need you

Bike Lanes
I love bike lanes
I love bike lanes
Not contributing to climate change
I feel safer riding in bike lanes
It would be nice to have more racks
What what I’m just trying to ask city hall
I love bike lane, I love bike lanes
Not contributing to climate change
Thank you, city hall

Minimum Wage
Raise the minimum wage
Work, work, work to the grave
Supporting your family
Staying out of poverty
That’s the American way
What doesn’t cost jobs
YEAH!

River Greenway
I’m sending out an invitation
To mother nature
Bring on flowers
Bring on tree
Bring the concrete to its knees
I want to ride my bike down the big River Greenway
Commuting will be safer
and I’ll get of the freeway
Slow it down
Slow it down
Gonna countrify this town

Parking
I bought a pretty dress
That cost a whole lot more
When I got back to my car
and found a ticket on the door
I was just a minute late
for the cashier made me wait
If LA won’t treat me right
I’m staying home tonight
If LA won’t treat me right
I’m staying home tonight
Mr. Mayor put me on your commission
Mr Mayor, you need me on that board

Public Space
More trees in public places
Make vacant lots tree spaces
Strengthen and beautify our neighborhood
Cools the city
No pollution
Trees help our climate
Please help our climate

Science
God made the sun, the sky, the trees, and rivers too
But he also made thinking and logic for me and you
Let religion save your soul, that’s the goal
Let science save the world, that’s its role

Dog Parks
No more dog parks
Near the dog parks
Not the dogs
That is wrong
Something’s a matter with the fecal matter
Wild and free are the pups we’re after
Something’s a matter with the fecal matter
Wild and free are the pups we’re after

Trains
Riding on that train
Less stress on my brain
Rush hour all around
But it’s not gonna weigh me down
Took the La metro
Relaxing from the get-go
Ride that train, gonna ride that train
No more freeway lanes

Climate
More trees in public places
Make vacant lot street spaces
Strengthen and beautify our neighborhood
Cools the city
No pollution
Trees help our climate
Please help our climate
