Mediated Interactions: A series of workshops
Orchestrated by Kamau Patton in collaboration with Machine Project members
Three nights
Tues Nov 10th, Wed Nov 11th, Thurs Nov 12th, 2009
7-10pm
FREE, limited space! RSVP REQUIRED.
**UPDATE: These workshops are now SOLD OUT. Thanks!**
Through a series of experiments in primitive forms of transmitting coded information we will explore the perceptual conditions –noise and static- that accompany systems designed for human interaction. In the workshop we will build simple telegraph machines. Our focus will be on transmitting information using sound and rhythm (Morse code) as well as creating devices for transmitting codes using light. The workshop activities are experiments in progress developed by the artist, sourced from teaching texts in the artist’s collection. The goal of the workshop is to identify themes and structures that can be mapped onto the Machine Project space. The group project will be to install the devices made during the workshop and create a coding system to link the upstairs gallery with the basement classroom space.
We’re looking for up to 7 Machine Project Members to participate, who would like to collaborate on this project over the course of three days.
