Embroidering Neutra VDL Workshop
Sunday July 28th, 2013
12pm – 3pm
at Neutra VDL House // 2300 Silver Lake Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90039
Instructor: Jenny Hart
Artist and embroidery designer Jenny Hart will lead an embroidery workshop held in the living room of Neutra’s landmark VDL house. Participants will learn the basics of embroidery and enjoy the rare opportunity to engage in a domestic activity in one of Los Angeles’ most architecturally significant homes.
Students will be provided with an embroidery hoop, needles, embroidery floss, and a pre-printed design on fabric. Hart will teach students the basics of hand embroidery, as they stitch a blueprint of the house’s second floor that they can frame and keep. The workshop will also include a brief talk on the history of the house by the Neutra VDL Research House Director Sarah Lorentzen.
Seating is limited to 15 students. No embroidery experience necessary.
A portion of the proceeds from this workshop will go towards restoration efforts at the Netura VDL Research House.
This event is part of Machine Project’s Field Guide to L.A. Architecture.
