Dear friends,
We have lots of info for you, all of it good. Read on for heartwarming details of our fundraising efforts, a Friday afternoon Francis Bacon reading, poetry housecalls Sunday and a soldering workshop on Saturday.
1) Thank you everyone who donated and became members! We were touched and reassured by how much support we have and are in a much stronger position to move forward. Along these lines, we are going to have our first members event of 2009 on the evening of Saturday, January 24th – a magical tour of our mysterious basement featuring the secret bookstore, weird prop collection, hidden greenhouse and special musical guests. And snacks! If you’re not yet a member, there is still time to become one here:
2) 1pm this Friday afternoon (December 19th), Joshua Beckman, Anthony McCann and Sara Roberts will be reading the entirety of Francis Bacon’s utopian text New Atlantis. This will be very casual and we’ll have beanbags so you can sit on the floor. And maybe pie.

3) Saturday afternoon (December 20th) learn to solder in a hands-on primitive synthesizer building workshop. As seen at LACMA, and back by popular demand. $40 for members, $50 for non-members. All materials and tools included and you take home a charming noise making device once it’s done.

4) Sunday (December 21st) from Dawn to Dusk is poetry delivery day. Call the Poetry Hotline (213 448 7668) all day on Sunday to get a poem delivered to you within a one mile radius of Machine. More details here:
