Guest Curated by Morgan Kroll.

With roots in underground hardcore and punk, Kris Karlsson brings a DIY philosophy to his singular take on American folk and soul music. October 14th’s performance will feature songs from his new project forthcoming December 2010.

Céleigh Chapman and John Isaac Watters met in college, and started performing and writing together in the Los Angeles based collective Still Watters Run Deep. After Céleigh sang on Isaac’s solo album, they decided to collaborate on a new project and called it COYOL. William Gramling produced their first EP, which will be released later this fall.

Anna Su recently recorded her debut album, Howling Tree, with producer Nate Vaughan. With a style reminiscent of gypsy jazz and folk, her music seeks to bring musicians together to return to the simple joys of making sound.

Schedule:

8pm: Anna Su

9pm: Kris Karlsson

10pm: COYOL

Hammer Museum in Residence at Machine Project

The Hammer Museum’s Public Engagement program seeks to create an artist-driven visitor engagement program that encourages contact among visitors, artists, and Museum staff, and activates spaces in imaginative ways. This year’s Public Engagement Artist in Residence (A.I.R.) is Machine Project, led by Mark Allen. Machine Project invited Hammer staff to do a series of one-day residencies this fall at Machine Project. This event is organized by Morgan Kroll, Public Relations Associate at the Hammer.
