April 26th, 2010

The contest is over! Hidden number revealed below..

Congratulations to Michael Smoler, who came closest with the guess 26. Thanks to everyone who participated!

April 23rd, 2010

We really love all of our Members, and it makes us sad that there are some of you on the East Coast who can’t regularly attend Machine events.

We also really love Cabinet Magazine, and when we saw that they’re having a possibly-fancy cocktail party with impromptu sword fighting in New York soon, we realized we had a chance to do something fun for one of our East Coast Members.

Especially for all of our Members on the East Coast, or any who will be on the East Coast the night of May 1st, we’ve purchased a pair of tickets to the Cabinet Benefit Cocktail Party (a $150 value) that you, yes you, could win! And have for free! And use to get yourself and a friend into the cocktail party, where you can eat their delicious but modest snacks, and witness close-up magic, and have a generally grand old time.

The contest is simple: Guess what number Mark Allen is thinking.

Mark Allen is thinking of a number between 1 to 100, and he’s written it down on a piece of paper. He’s folded this piece of paper up and sealed it inside a Machine Project envelope. You have until 11:59pm PST on Sunday, April 25th, 2010 to email us a guess as to what the hidden number is (just ONE guess each!). By noon on Monday, April 26th, 2010 we will reveal the number on this very same webpage, and announce a winner.

In the event of a tie, we’ll come up with something (don’t worry about it).

Here’s a brief but exciting list of things happening at Cabinet’s Benefit Cocktail Party:

Saturday, May 1, 2010, 8–11 pm
The Italian Academy
1161 Amsterdam Avenue New York

An evening featuring:

• Jonathan Ames as Master of Ceremonies

• Artworks by Spencer Finch and Terry Winters to be won in two games of bingo

• A performance by Dorit Chrysler on her splendid theremin

• Impromptu sword fighting

• Astonishing close-up magic

• Open bar featuring mixologist Eben Klemm’s special “Cabinet” cocktail

• Tasty, albeit modest, snacks

• Naughty after-drinks treats from the award-winning Wafels & Dinges dessert truck

If you’d like to go ahead and obtain tickets the traditional way, go here.
