Romantic shipwreck week

This week we’re featuring Romantic literature, paintings, and semi-catastrophic trysts in the shipwreck. Details below.

-> On Tuesday Sept 28th, at 8pm Joshua Beckman and Emily Lacy present poetry and music related to the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

-> On Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 8pm, Jennifer S. Li of the The J. Paul Getty Museum, Ann Hadlock, and Rebecca Norton host an evening exploring the painter J.M.W. Turner’s seascapes with a slide lecture followed by a musical performance by Sirens & Sailors.

-> On Saturday October 2nd, 2010 at 8pm, Diana Wagman, novelist and essayist, will be telling her own real-life story of shipwreck, true love, and survival. At 19, Diana joined up as crew on a sailboat going from Newport, RI to Bermuda. She didn’t know how to swim and she had never been on a sailboat before. Corey Fogel will also perform in the shipwreck.

Also coming up, a workshop in Proto-Chiptunes — making your own simple 1bit audio circuitboard instrument, with Phil Stearns. Details here.
