This four session workshop explores the current dialogue in information design by taking four distinct approaches to describe ordinary objects, living organisms, or concepts through the analysis of its existing data.

Then, utilizing the physical qualities of the page to create a rationalized, systematic compositional strategy using letters, numbers, and grids as well as intuitive strategies such as randomness, semiotic compositions and handmade images; we will create printed panels whose visual language will reveal the distinguishing characteristics of said objects, organisms, or concepts according to its authors interpretation of existing data. The aim of the project is to visually and conceptually differentiate data, information, knowledge, and stories.

Participants who have laptops and design software are encouraged to bring them with you, but if you do not pencil and paper will do! This is a great workshop to take after The Alphametaphorm & the Typescape.
