Book Bloc Workshop taught by Ken Ehrich
Tired of getting beaten by the cops while peacefully protesting? Riffing on a strategy developed by friends in Italy, England, Oakland and beyond who have defended themselves against aggressive batons with bookish shields, we will construct shields based on a favorite book cover. Choose your titles carefully. The shield not only acts as a defense mechanism, it is a visual sign advocating for knowledge and culture in an age of austerity. Come by just to watch and learn or make yourself a shield which will be yours to keep for a materials fee of only $35.

People’s Microphone Caroling taught by Juliana Snapper
Forget the old tradition of holding households hostage with ill-tuned xmas ditties! Join voices with the Peoples Microphone Carolers to offer citizens in Echo park a chance to share their own thoughts and have them amplified and gloriously echoed by our chorus. We will meet to warm-up and rehearse before heading into the neighborhood. FREE.
