WORKSHOP : Experimental Casting Workshop at Center for the Arts Eagle Rock
Saturday, March 1st & Sunday, March 2nd from 12-4pm

Machine Project and Center for the Arts Eagle Rock* present an experimental casting workshop with artist Mary Hill. In this two-day class, participants will pair experimental casting methods with traditional mold-making to create work that is first classical and then distorted. We will cover how to cast with wax, plaster, and resin (Silcast II) into our own silicone molds, and then push each material past its conventional use to achieve curious and surprising results.

*Please note that this is event is taking place at Center for the Arts Eagle Rock.

Registration is $105 for Machine members and $120 for non-members. For more information and to register, click here: /build/engine/blog/2014/03/01/experimental-casting-workshop-at-center-for-the-arts-eagle-rock/

WORKSHOP : Bread Baking Using Naturally Leavened Dough and Whole Grain Flour
Saturday, March 1st from 1-4pm

In this afternoon workshop, you’ll learn baking concepts from starter to finished loaf. We will begin with ideas about maintaining a sourdough culture and the difference between commercial and “wild” yeast. We will develop dough all the way through bulk fermentation, then cover the core principles of shaping boules and batards. Afterwards, each student will be given the supplies and homework to make a couple of loaves for an optional community bake the next day at Grand Park using a wood fired oven.

Registration is $45 for Machine members and $55 for non-members. For more information and to register, click here: /build/engine/blog/2014/03/01/bread-baking-using-naturally-leavened-dough-and-whole-grain-flour/
