Machine This Week: May 5th to May 15th

Event: Explorations in Teledildonics #1: Lecture with Ian Ingram
Saturday, May 9, 8pm

Join us in the Machine storefront this Saturday at 8pm, for a lecture by Ian Ingram on the future of robotic-lizard love and mechanized territory making, focused on Ian’s territory-marking robotic lizards. Ian builds mechatronic and robotic systems that borrow facets from animal morphology and behavior, from the shapes and movements of machines, and from our stories about animals. These systems are often intended to cohabitate and interact with animals in the wild, exploring the manmade object’s future as a willful entity and the nature of communication. See the future, drink refreshments.

Event: Explorations in Teledildonics #1: Robotic Lizard Mating Performance with Ian Ingram
Sunday, May 10, 1-4pm

Sunday at 1pm, meet us at the fallen tree in Elyria Canyon Park on Mt. Washington for a performance of Ian Ingram’s territory-marking robotic Western Fence Lizard Lizardless Legs. This mechatronic robot is designed to imitate the territory-marking push ups of Western Fence Lizards. The fallen tree (coordinates 34.101115, -118.223263) is a site of lizard mating Ian has been following for years. Throughout the afternoon, Lizardless Legs will be attempting to interact with the live flesh-lizards. Can a robot love an animal and be loved in return? Find out!
