Come celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Sheep, with our latest workshop Felting and Dyeing with Cochineal and Indigo!
Artist Carolyn Mason will lead participants in a hands-on afternoon where we’ll learn to prepare the natural dyes cochineal and indigo, then dye our own freshly-felted wool. You’ll make and go home with your own dye vats, and learn Carolyn’s technique for easy home felting utilizing our local laundromat. There will also be a discussion of the complex, often violent history of these dyes that have defined the colors red and blue for centuries.
