Friday Dec 15th 8pm
Paranoid Machine – a lecture by Jason Brown

According to a loosely defined Gnostic world-view, humankind is imprisoned in a fallen, dualistic universe. Everything we perceive is a deception, and the True World is concealed behind shells of imprisoning illusion.

The ‘God” of this world is actually the Demiurge — a prison keeper working to hide knowledge (gnosis) of our true selves. In this prison-world of lies, truth would appear as an error, a bug in the system. Most of this paranoid cosmology is explained in the allegorical Disney film Tron.

What does this have to do with memory palaces, text adventures, cybering, y2k and Roswell? Join us this friday to find out.

Saturday Dec 16th 7-10pm
We’re very excited to announce our second annual machine project fry-b-que/holiday party.

Free Admission/$5 all you can fry

Things to do:

1) Arrive between 7 – 10 pm Saturday Dec 16th.

2) Bring something to fry. Our trained fryolater technicians will be standing by, eager to batter and fatify your soon to be delicious snacks. Our extensive testing suggests that almost any item will bring great fried satisfaction – potatoes, fish, vegetables, onions, twinkies, etc. Just in case we bought extra fire extinguishers.

3) Bring checks small and large and become a friend of Machine Project. Benefits (depending on level) include free classes, chunks of uranium enriched glass, private tours of the secret gallery and more. Your donation helps us keep doing what we do, and is fully tax deductible.

4) Visit our new secret bar (accessible through a stabilized rift in the time/space continuum)

As a very special bonus, Joshua Bearman (who has recently returned from a panda cuddle mission in China) will be presenting a brief talk and slide show on his successful mission to cuddle adolescent panda bears in China. There will be multiple images of adorable baby pandas.
