This Thursday night from 8pm-11pm, come by Machine Project and play Donkey Kong and other classic games on an oversized Atari joystick, built by our friend Jason Torchinsky! Our neighbors at the Echo Park Film Center will be screening the documentary KING OF KONG, so if you haven’t seen it yet, you should watch it with them and get some pointers first.
Then while you’re here trying to save the princess, say hi to our friends Brian Crabtree + Kelli Cain, who will be starting their Artist Residency with us this week. Starting this Saturday, Brian and Kelli will be teaching a Felt+Circuits workshop that combines making and dyeing your own felt, with introductory circuitboard design. Awesome, right? You can sign up here.
And finally, we were lucky enough to receive a grant from the Getty to hire a Multicultural Undergraduate Intern this summer, ending a years-long streak of getting students to work for us for nothing. If you’re interested, click here for details (it gets pretty specific – for instance, you can’t graduate before December 2008, and there are specific criteria for what counts as ‘multicultural’).
