Join us on the evening of the Fourth of July for an acoustic celebration and singalong of American folk music, led by head balladeers Daniel Brummel and Laura Steenberge.
Open to everyone, and everyone encouraged and requested to sing; all musicians welcome to bring acoustic instruments (a simple chord chart is available here) and provide accompanimental support. Hand percussion instruments made widely available.
Characteristically American material selected, emphasis placed on subversive & spiritual material, peace and protest, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger etc., with cultural curveballs like “Take Me Out to The Ball Game” sneaking its way into Leadbelly’s “Goodnight Irene.”
Down-home refreshments provided.
