Summer Intern Duties
The intern will report to Machine Project in Echo Park on a full-time schedule, and work side-by-side with staff in Machine’s office, gallery, and classroom. A workstation with an Apple computer can be provided, though interns are encouraged to bring their own laptops.
– Work hands-on with artists and staff to coordinate the logistics of Machine Project’s summer programming, including all events, classes, and Artist Residencies. This includes coordinating with artists and presenters to determine their needs, pre-ordering and gathering materials and equipment as necessary, cleaning and prepping the space, determining any audio/visual requirements for each event and setting up and testing them beforehand.
– Update the Machine Project website (www.m.loc/engine) with information about the aforementioned events. This includes creating a webpage for the event before it happens for promo purposes, as well as updating the event page afterwards with photos.
– Be responsible for publicizing all events and exhibitions to various press outlets, as well as updating and maintaining Machine Project’s social networking pages.
– Ensure events are videotaped and photographed.
– Provide general support to the Executive Director and Operations Manager in daily tasks, including but not limited to gallery organization and administration, updating databases, processing sales, research, and exhibition installation, event production and promotion.
– Use Adobe InDesign and Flickr to produce the Machine Project Yearbook (a printed volume of text and images documenting all Machine events in the past year).
– Use Adobe Photoshop to edit image files for online use and publications.
– Fill in as production support in various roles as needed.
