hammer this week: music and foraging in westwood
Please join us Saturday Feb 6th, 2010 in the lobby of the Hammer museum, from 12-4pm. We will be offering three treats for you.
1) A free food foraging expedition in Westwood with Mike Metzger. We will meet at 12pm sharp in the lobby of the Hammer for an introduction, followed by four hours of strolling around town harvesting wild greens, edible flowers and fruit, meeting back at the Hammer courtyard to prepare (and eat) a giant wild salad from the foods picked during the walk. Lots of edible plant info will be covered. Students are encouraged to ask lots of questions and bring paper, pencil, and a knife as well (stone knife if you have one).
Free, but you must register for the foraging expedition, space is limited.
2) In a small coatroom under and inside the stairs in the front lobby of the Hammer is a new performance venue we have named The Little William Theatre. Saturday from 12-1pm and 3-4pm Andrew Conrad and Colin Woodford will be performing very short concerts for audience of up to 2 people at a time. Seatings every 5 minutes. Free.
3) If (like us) you’ve always dreamed of being followed around a museum by a guitarist only you can hear, now is your chance. From noon to 3pm you can check out Erick Klerks to provide a live audio soundtrack to your viewing experience. One person at a time, first come first served. Free
This event is co-organized by Machine Project and the Hammer Museum, as part of Machine’s yearlong residency at the Hammer.
