Of all the Victorian-Era stage illusions, the simple use of an angled piece of glass to create phantasmagorical effects developed by John Pepper seems to have survived the longest.
It has been adapted for use at haunted mansions, museums, modern day rock concerts and even in heads-up displays for aircraft. In this workshop, multimedia designer Chris Weisbart will lead a class through the required principals and construction techniques for developing your own Pepper’s Ghost using commonly available materials. Open your mind to the endless possibilities of integrating cool optical effects into other art or media displays or simply use what you’ve learned to spruce up your Halloween haunted house!
The workshop will include a brief introduction on the technique, a build-it-yourself shoebox size mockup and a collaborative construction of a full-sized Pepper’s Ghost Effect.
