Someone once said “a rose is a rose is a rose”, but that’s not true.
It turns out there’s a precise definition of what makes a rose. There’s a definition for when a short story is long enough to be called a novel. There’s an extraordinarily precise definition of how long a second is. There are more than THIRTY different definitions for horsepower. Over the millennia we humans have come up with thousands and thousands of different ways to classify and quantify virtually every aspect of the world.
History of science and technology junkie Chris Spurgeon returns to Machine Project to explain why seconds don’t last longer than they do, why a pound of feathers doesn’t weigh the same as a pound of gold, how you can decide when a poison is really poisonous, and more.
Our super interns Andrea & Andrew will be making at least one of the following homemade ice cream flavors using liquid nitrogen: bacon/bourbon/caramel, cucumber/mint/lime, earl grey/coconut and/or jalapeƱo/orange/agave nectar.
