Millinery is the art of making hats by hand using wooden head blocks and simple hand-sewing techniques. In this class you will make your own, one-of-a-kind hat using wool felt and an assortment of trim materials.

You can make an original version of a classic fedora, porkpie, bowler, top hat, cap, or cloche or invent your own free-form sculpted design. If you have a specific idea of a hat you would like to make, please bring inspirational photos or hats from your own collection to class.

Your registration fee includes use of a variety of headblocks, basic tools and a selection of wool felt hoods (what we make the hats from), grosgrain ribbon as well as Corina’s assortment of vintage buttons, felt and leather scraps etc for trimming, and a source list she’s put together for your further adventures in hat-making. If you have special things you want to use, you should also bring them in.
