Come record the bay at our hydrophone workshop hosted by the Exploratorium. Sound artist Chris Kallmyer will lead participants through the creation of an underwater microphone, and then record the bay around the Exploratorium’s new outpost on the Embarcadero.

Participant’s recordings will be installed as a sound installation at the Berkeley Art Museum on the evening on May 6, as part of Machine Project’s Tri-way Hyperlecture Cagematch This is an excellent opportunity to learn about field recording, soldering, and the sonic life under the surface of the bay.

What you need to bring
– headphones
– if you have a recording device, bring it! (optional)

What we will bring
– Hydrophone kit
– Digital Field Recorders (We only have 7 for borrowing!)
– soldering irons
– hot glue
– the bay

Class size is limited to 15 participants.
