Note: this event will not be taking place at Machine Project. See below for details.

Join us for a sing-along exploring the acoustics and politics of public space in Los Angeles. We’ll take to the most famous (and echo-filled) tunnel in Los Angeles to exercise our right to assemble, and to serenade passing cars and each other. The tone-deaf and singing-phobic are welcome (though singing is heartily encouraged).

In honor of the retro-futuristic location, we’ll sing a handful of familiar pop songs covering topics like satellites, countdowns to takeoff, the wish to be abducted by aliens, and the loneliness of outer space. Songs will be accompanied by violin, accordion, snare and triangle.

Open to all! Though please RSVP to publicspacesingalong@gmail.com with the subject line [I like to sing in tunnels] to let us know you’ll be coming. We’ll respond with the meeting location (which will be near the sing-along location, between Machine Project and Downtown LA), a songbook and a playlist in case you want to further familiarize yourself with the songs before the event.
