How do sound vibrations behave? How do our brains make sense of them? What would they look like if we could see them?
In this workshop, we will conduct experiments about sound using speakers, instruments, strobe lights, cornstarch, salt, and other household items. Topics we will explore include: how we can create visualizations of sound vibrations, how these vibrations combine to produce harmony, how the size of the human body affects our perception of sound, and the abilities of humans and other animals to locate sounds in the environment. Instructor: Laura Steenberge. Limit 15 participants.
This is a Machine Project workshop in collaboration with the Intimate Science exhibition at the Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery at the Art Center College of Design. For more information about Intimate Science visit here: http://www.williamsongallery.net/intimatescience/
