Artist, author and embroidery designer Jenny Hart will lead an embroidery workshop on Aunt Julia’s sleeping porch in the Gamble House.

Participants will enjoy the very rare opportunity to engage in a domestic activity inside one of California’s most architecturally significant homes. Participants will be provided an embroidery hoop, needles, embroidery floss, and a pre-printed design on fabric. Hart will teach participants the basics of hand embroidery as they stitch a surveyor’s contour site map of the Gamble house they can keep to frame or make into a pillow..

This is a continuation of Hart’s site-specific embroidery workshops that take place in architecturally significant, but personal and private spaces. Previously, last year’s “Embroidering Neutra” in the Neutra VDL house for Machine Project’s Field Guide to L.A. Architecture.

No embroidery experience necessary.
