Raphael Arar will help you get started making native apps for iOS using PhoneGap, which allows you to make a mobile web application that functions like a native smartphone app.

We’ll learn how to create a basic map application that leverages geo-location and Google Maps.Participants should have a basic knowledge of HMTL, CSS and Javascript — if you don’t, consider taking our Web Fundamentals for Mobile Design workshop the week before!

Raphael Arar is an artist whose work seeks to trace the trajectories of interpersonal and intrapersonal interaction in light of progress. These works manifest themselves in a variety of forms encompassing a synthesis of nostalgia and novelty often informed by scientific systems and humanistic research. His work has been shown at museums, conferences, festivals and galleries internationally. He lives and works in Los Angeles, California.

Note: We will be using Xcode, so Mac laptops preferred. PhoneGap is cross-platform, so PC users are more than welcome to join, but most content will focus on the Xcode IDE. Please install Xcode and Developer Tools prior to class. They can be downloaded here: https://developer.apple.com/xcode/downloads

Participants should be high school age or older.
