The next CicLAvia is on March 22nd, so in preparation we are hosting a weekend of spinning LED bicycle magic, led by two of Machine’s most over qualified workshop instructors.
Alex Bielawiec and Charles Dandino of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory work on rover missions to Mars, but they also like bikes. They’ll teach us to wire our bicycle spokes with LED lights, then using microcontrollers we’ll learn to map these LEDs, and time them to the spinning of our wheels, to create beautiful animations. For safety and style. This workshop will cover LED circuitry, Arduino microcontrollers, and basic soldering. No experience is necessary.
Participants should bring a laptop to both classes, and a bicycle to the Sunday session.
