In this workshop, we will explore the technological possibilities of creating private virtual realities. Over the course of three classes, thom rugo and kyttenjanae will guide participants through the process of realizing their own personalized virtual environments.
The workshop will cover a brief history of virtual reality and offer hands on experience with modern headsets (including Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard). Using the game development engine Unity3D, we will learn to model simple yet stunning environments built for the Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard devices. Participants will take home their own private virtual reality, the Google Cardboard virtual reality console, and the technical know-how to continue developing their software and create future 3D virtual environments of their own.
A laptop and smartphone are required. No coding or 3D modeling experience necessary.
