Come join us on Saturday, August 12th from 10:30am to 5:00pm at Border Field State Park and/or Playas Tijuana to surf at the US-Mexican border!

Diego Palacios, visual artist and surfer, invites you to partake in a surf day at the US-Mexico border in an effort to create a space for cross-border connection and to provide a unique vantage point for participants to view the absurdity of the border structure. Machine will be trans-border with two basecamps from which you can launch off.

Catch a wave and ride out to international waters. For all those beach-leeches out there, we’ll be providing a few surfboards for use throughout the day.

In the spirit of surf tradition known as a paddle-out, at Noon we will join in the water for a paddle-out moment of silence in memory of immigrants who have lost their lives crossing borders.

If you are interested in participating further, let us know! Email us at machine@machineproject.com

We’ll be providing light refreshments, but we highly encourage you to bring snacks or a picnic!

—-Logistics—-

Machine will have a basecamp at Border Field State Park; 1500 Monument Rd, San Diego, CA 92154. Parking is walking distance from the beach and is $5 for the day, 9:30am to 5:00pm.
