Maura Brewer and Paul Pescador invite you to attend an Easter holiday celebration on the evening of Good Friday and ending the night of Easter Sunday. Join us for the premiere of The Holy Trinity, the culmination of a series of three collaborative videos.
Each video draws from a specific pop culture source, using strategies of appropriation and puppetry to explore issues of family, power and modes of representation. The first two videos, DAD DAD DAD and The Buffy Files, were screened during thematically aligned holidays, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day respectively, and drew on source material from Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The third and final video adapts imagery from William Friedkin’s 1973 film The Exorcist, bringing together the Father, the Child and the Holy Spirit in a meditation on themes of possession, both sexual and spiritual.
All three videos will play on loop for the duration of the weekend, with loop beginning at the top of the hour. Tears, fears, and a signature cocktail will be served.
