The Little William Theater is located in a coat-room in the lobby under the stairs at the Hammer Museum. It is one of the world’s newest and smallest theaters, with seating for two people, and different performers every week. Come visit us at the Hammer Museum every Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Brendan Carn, solo contrabass

Brendan Carn is a bassist, composer, and improviser living in Los Angeles. For the Little William Theater, Brendan will be creating short, improvised pieces for solo Contrabass. The music he generates will be spontaneously composed, and based on the audience, atmosphere, and physical space of the coat room. The Microscore Project

Jessica Catron and Orin Hildestad will present microscores for violin and cello in the Little William Theater. These 30 second pieces of music have been composed specifically for Jessica and her collaborator Johnny Chang who now live in Berlin. Lucky for us, Orin is here to fill Johnny’s shoes. Since its inception in 2001, the Microscore Project has commissioned and performed over 300 miniature works from artists around the world – including Pauline Oliveros, Peter Ablinger, Philip Brownlee, Chiyoko Szlavnics, Harold Budd, Nels Cline, and James Tenney. Andrew McIntosh will perform two complete cycles of minimalist composer Tom Johnson’s Rational Melodies, a collection of 21 pattern-oriented energetic miniatures. TJ Troy, a senior disciple of Pandit Swapan Chudhuri, presents classical tabla compositions accompanied by Mike Robbins (Harmonium).Also known as the LA Based jazz Indian ensemble “PremaSoul,” Sheela Bringi, Clinton Patterson and Robin Sukhadia will present short north Indian classical improvisations and compositions on bansuri (bamboo flute), trumpet and tabla (north Indian classical drums).
Walter Kitundu, Neelanjana Sukadia, and Robin Sukhadia perform on tabla, voice, and home-built-instruments.

Chris Kallmyer presents his project FERMENT[cheese], a collaboration with cheese-maker, Sue Conley of the Cowgirl Creamery. Incorporating field recordings of John Taverna’s Dairy and the Cowgirl’s facilities, Chris examines the process of cheese-making from agriculture to affinage.
